Watermelon: Large seedy, watery fruit, green on the outside, red in the inside. Recently, seedless watermelons have become available as well.
Watermelon Pucker: A specific type of watermelon-flavoured schnapps.
West Coast Cooler: Beverage made from white wine and fruits. It has 3.5 percent alcohol by volume.
Wein (vine): German word for "wine."
Weingut (VINE-goot): Any wine-producing property in Germany.
Weizen (VITE-zen): A beer made with wheat, as opposed to barley malt.
Whipped Cream: Dessert or a garnish made from egg whites or cream that have been beaten.
Whipping Cream: Cream used to make whipped cream.
Whiskey: Spirit distilled from fermented grain mash, stored and aged in oak or other wood containers. This spelling is proper for American, Canadian and Irish whiskies.
Whisky: The proper spelling for Scotch whisky, including blended and single malt.
White Brandy: A clear-colored brandy.
White Chocolate Liqueur: A liqueur flavored with white chocolate.
White Port: A blended port that is made with white grapes only.
White Rum: Colorless rum that is light in body and traditionally produced in the southern Caribbean Islands.
White Tequila: A tequila that requires no aging and is sold right after distillation.
Whole Milk: Another word for plain milk--as opposed to semi-skimmed, or skimmed.
Wild Spirit Liqueur: A distinct raspberry/chocolate-flavored schnapps.
Windsor Canadian Whisky: The brand name of a Canadian whisky.
Wine: A beverage produced by fermenting grape juice. The term is also used more broadly for alcoholic beverages made from fruits other than grapes.
Wine Cooler: Low-alcohol, sweet, fruity drink made by mixing wine with fruit juice and carbonated water.
Winemaker: The person in charge of winemaking in a winery.
Winemaster: The chief winemaker within a given winery or wine company.
Wisniak Cherry Liqueur: A Polish brand of cherry-flavored liqueur.
Wit: A wheat beer brewed in the Belgian style, generally with coriander and other spices added.
Woody: Tasting term for a wine in which the effect of prolonged contact with wood is noticeable.
Worcestershire Sauce: A spicy sauce made from soy sauce, vinegar, and different spices.
Wormwood: 1. A plant producing a bitter oil used to make absinthe. 2 The main herb used to flavor Vermouth.
Wort: A sweet liquid comprised of water, barley, sugar, and hops that is the foundation of beer before it is fermented.
