Falerno: Type of wine adapted from Ancient Rome and made in Italy. Red and white Falernos are available.
Falernum: Flavoring syrup made with ginger, lime, and spices. It is produced in the West Indies and has three percent alcohol per volume.
Fanta: The name of an orange carbonated, non-alcoholic soda.
Faro: Lambic beer that has been sweetened by candy sugar.
Fat: Tasting term describing a drink with a thick, heavy mouthfeel that lacks crispness.
Fermentation: Process by which yeast in grape juice, or other sugary solutions, converts sugar into ethyl alcohol and carbon dioxide.
Filtered: Passed through a filter to remove tiny particles that might make a beverage cloudy or apt to go bad.
Fino sherry: Pale, very dry Spanish sherry.
Fior d' Alpi: Liqueur that is flavored with Alpine flowers and herbs. The name, when translated, means "Alpine Flowers".
Five Alive: Brand of frozen drink concentrate made from the juices of five different citrus fruits including oranges, lemons, grapefruits, tangerines, and limes.
Float: Final ingredient of a drink, added by pouring on top over the back of a mixing spoon.
Forbidden Fruit Liqueur: A liqueur, produced in the United States, that is made from a particular type of grapefruit (shaddock) as well as honey and brandy.
Forester: Brand of cider produced in England.
Frangelico: Italian liqueur flavored with hazelnuts and herbs.
French Vermouth: Vermouth produced in France that is normally drier than the Italian vermouth and that has a spicy aroma.
Fruity: Tasting term referring to fresh flavors of apricots or other fruits.
