Daktari: Liqueur containing ripe bananas and exotic fruits.
Drambuie: Scottish liqueur that is a concoction of Scotch, heather honey, and herbs.
Danish Alborg Aquavit: A type of akvavit produced in Denmark.
Daquiri Mix: Mix made of sugar, water, lime puree, and other ingredients that allow you to make cocktails by simply adding ice and alcohol.
Dark Brown Sugar: Sugar that is not refined or that is only partially refined.
Dark Chocolate: Chocolate with a high content of cocoa.
Dark Puerto Rican Rum: Dark rum originating from Puerto Rico.
Dark Rum: Aged rum that is sometimes colored with caramel.
Decant: The process of pouring wine carefully from a bottle to aerate it. If it's an older wine, the process of trying to separate it from the sediment at the bottom of the bottle.
Decanter: Glass or crystal flask designed to hold decanted wine and to be used as a server.
Demi-sec: Champagne term signifying that the product is medium-sweet.
Dessert wine: Any of a class of sweet wines served with/as a dessert.
Dionysus: Greek god of wine and revelry.
Dosage: French term for the few ounces of wine or brandy, often sweetened, that are added to a bottle of Champagne after disgorging.
Doublebock: Beer term meaning an extra-strong version of a bock.
Dry: When dealing with wines, the term means the absence of detectable sweetness.
Dry Beer: Very mild-tasting lager with very little finish and an average alcohol content.
